TCJ Student has announced that Bridgette Hoshont’omba of Nebraska Indian Community College (NICC) will serve as the next blogger at TCJStudent.org.
“Starting a new chapter as a blogger for TCJ Student is so thrilling after years of hard work to find my footing as a non-traditional student in education. This role feels like a natural next step, and I’m excited to contribute to such a meaningful mission and to the community in this way,” states Hoshont’omba.
A citizen of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, Hoshont’omba is pursuing her bachelor’s in business administration and tribal nation building at Nebraska Indian Community College. She is the president of NICC’s American Indigenous Business Leaders chapter, served as an American Indian College Fund 2024-2025 Student Ambassador, and was a contender for Ms. AIHEC at the AIHEC Student Conference. Outside of her education, Hoshont’omba is involved with groups that promote the social welfare of Native women, teaches Native youth how to bead, and has walked the runway for Native designers from Oklahoma to NYFW. And she’s a poet and writer!
“Bridgette Hoshont’omba has a finely crafted voice on the page and is a multi-media artist with passion and talent for a variety of mediums of expression and storytelling,” says Ezechiel Brummels, head of the Liberal Arts Division at NICC, “She is interested in the possibility of community, both in the physical space she lives and the ever-expanding online landscape of the 21st century.”
“We’re excited to have Bridgette on board at TCJStudent.org. She’s very talented and brings a fresh new voice to the Tribal College Movement,” says Bradley Shreve, TCJ’s editor.
Hoshont’omba’s blog, Roots & Reckonings, will launch at TCJStudent.org on September 30.
