Dr. Paul F. Trebian has been named president of the College of Menominee Nation (CMN). The announcement by the college’s board of trustees follows a 14-month national search that attracted candidates from across the country. A native of Alaska and a member of the Tlingit tribe, the new CMN president is a long-time resident of Wisconsin.

Trebian, who came to CMN from Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee, has focused his scholarship and service activities on faculty development, the improvement of student-faculty interaction, student retention, information and media technology, strategic planning, and project management. Along with administrative assignments and faculty positions at Stritch’s College of Business and Management and at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, he has held teaching positions with the University of Phoenix and Navajo Technical University. Outside of higher education, Trebian has consulted widely and worked in technology management for industries ranging from healthcare and family services to manufacturing, aerospace engineering, and architecture.

CMN’s new president holds an Ed.D. in educational leadership and a MBA in technology management from the University of Phoenix. He earned his M.A. and B.S. degrees in architecture from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

CMN, which has campuses in Keshena on the Menominee reservation and in metropolitan Green Bay near the Oneida Nation, is currently celebrating its 25th year of service. Between the retirement in 2016 of CMN’s founding president, Dr. Verna Fowler, and the appointment of Trebian last spring, Dr. Diana Morris, the college’s chief academic officer, provided concurrent leadership as interim president. Morris will continue as CAO.
