Chief Dull Knife College has loaned this skull to be displayed at the National Museum of the American Indian as part of an exhibit of the artistic creations of U.S. Sen. Ben Nighthorse Campbell (R-CO). Campbell (Cheyenne) designed it in 1976 and donated it to the tribal college. The skull has 10,000 karats of ox-blood coral, highlighted with black jade, mother of pearl, turquoise, and sterling silver. He wrapped the horns with silver and placed a little flower inside the skull to represent the Sun Dance. The exhibit was organized by the Center of Southwest Studies (Fort Lewis College, Durango, CO) and sponsored by the Southern Ute Tribe.
