Review by Holly Ristau
This is a second edition of a bibliography. Each entry includes publication data, the time and place in which the story took place, the tribe involved, and a list of published reviews.
The introduction gives a very interesting overview of the Native American in novels and the major changes in the last decade. Two trends noted are more Native Americans writing about living in current times and an explosion in the number of Native American detective books.
Titles are indexed by author in the main text. Other indices include books listed by tribe, title, date, historical events, and historical persons. There is also a list of favorite books chosen by the authors from this collection and a list of books not considered for this collection.
Holly Ristau is the librarian at White Earth Tribal and Community College and Mahnomen Public Schools in Mahnomen, MN.
