On Thursday, March 22, the Leech Lake Tribal College STEM department is hosting the 4^th annual Across the Universe event. Across the Universe opens a window into the world of science, technology, engineering and math and its many interesting aspects. The entire community is invited to this showcase that will expose the fun, wonderful power of science with hands-on activities and demonstrations from students, community members, and professional educators. Although many of the activities are geared toward high-school students, this free event is for the whole family to experience together.

Participants will enjoy amazing demonstrations from the robotics teams from Cass Lake-Bena High School, and have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience making string and rope from basswood and nettles with Nate Johnson and Emily Derke. Attendees will learn how to code a drone with students from Bemidji State University or create slime that changes color with temperature. Two delightful science programs by the Headwaters Science Center will provide participants a close-up view of live raptors or a demonstration on the unique properties of water. Families and friends will enjoy a spectacular evening filled with scientific demonstrations and hands-on activities for all.
