Body and Earth Conference Addresses the Future of Native Wellness

FREEDOM LODGE BODY AND EARTH CONFERENCE

Freedom Lodge has opened registration for the Body and Earth Conference. The meeting provides a forum to converse about cultural concerns, health disparities, impacts of global warming, historical trauma recovery, boarding school legacies, domestic abuse, restorative justice, and more. With extreme youth suicide rates, lower life expectancy, disproportionate poverty, inadequate education, discrimination in the delivery of health services, along with the current opioid and meth epidemics, Native communities are experiencing profound health crises. The Body and Earth Conference seeks to focus on Native wellness, to ally with other forward-thinking tribal professionals to implement change, and to be proactive in prevention.

While it’s impossible to quantify the immeasurable benefits of identifying and articulating the future of Native wellness, forward-thinking strategies can only embolden and unite communities in their shared interests. The beneficiaries are our children, grandchildren, and the seven generations to come.

Freedom Lodge is a nonprofit group that provides a limited number of scholarships to its conference. Body and Earth, the Future of Native Wellness will be held September 12-15, 2018, at the Mystic Lake Casino Hotel in Prior Lake, Minnesota. The dynamic conference will provide a significant positive impact and deepen attendees’ perspective and commitment to the future of Native healthcare.
