Blackfeet Community College (BFCC) is honored to announce that the college has received a transformational unrestricted gift of $8 million dollars from philanthropist MacKenzie Scott.
This gift is the largest of its kind in BFCC’s 51-year history and will fuel the college’s investment in its students, employees, elders, and the community. This transformative gift will provide more student scholarships, increase support for employees, enhance the campus infrastructure, expand the current endowment, and sustain the college’s current strategic plan in the furtherance of fulfilling its mission.
The historic donation builds on an earlier gift of $3 million to the college from Scott in 2020. The previous gift was used to establish an endowment, which currently has grown to over $6 million. This new gift will allow the college to strengthen its position among other tribal colleges and universities receiving similar gifts and broaden the sharing of student successes.
“This gift is coming at the perfect time for the college,” said President Brad Hall. “MacKenzie Scott’s gift is evidence of the continuous hard work of the college employees and board of trustees, who everyday intentionally seek to engage more with our community, connect student success-wellness, and work collectively to establish new programs that reflect the demonstrated needs of our ‘universal community’ as we advance our vision to strengthen and enrich our Blackfeet Nation and universal community through quality education integrating the Nii-tsi-ta-pi world of knowledge.”
The college’s board of trustees extends its gratitude to MacKenzie Scott for her generosity.
