Family ingredients host Ed Kenney sees food as a bridge between cultures.

The Lac Courte Oreilles Tribal Governing Board and the Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwa Community College (LCO) are hosting the Emmy Award-winning Family Ingredients series this week. Community members are encouraged to come to campus to meet the Family Ingredients crew and share in the cultural exchange.

Family Ingredients is hosted by Ed Kenney, who is passionate about life, food, and family. A multicultural mix of Hawaiian, Irish, Chinese, German, and Filipino, Ed is a character who never stops. Engaging, authentic, funny, and fun, Ed is a successful restaurateur who had no idea he wanted to be a chef until he found himself eating a steaming bowl of pho in Vietnam after graduating from college. At that moment it hit him: “Food is the unifying fabric of humanity, connecting us to the earth and each other.” Family Ingredients stresses that food can bridge communities through cultural exchange.

Connecting with Indian Country, the show’s cast and crew are visiting the Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwa community. There they will harvest ferns, visit the farm, and feast in the evening. All are welcome.
