LAC COURTE OREILLES NURSING STUDENTS

The Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwa Community College (LCOOCC) nursing students are launching a homeless/poverty project this February. Students will be reaching out to community resources to gather information on services available to the homeless and residents living in poverty who have health concerns.

Nursing students in their third semester will experience what low-income, uninsured, homeless, and hungry residents face in the local community. They will learn what resources are available for assistance with utilities, transportation, and medical services.

This project will provide nursing students with a better understanding of the resources available in our community, and enhance their compassion for their patients. Students will be working independently and the project will conclude in March.
