Job Description


This position serves as the chief operating and academic officer. Provides leadership and direction in carrying out the mission of the College, the Northeast Higher Education District (NHED), and of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities. Provides academic leadership and oversight of instructional, student services, and institutional budgets. Promote direction and vision of academic excellence within the faculty. Collaborates with the provosts/chief academic officers of the four colleges of NHED while also serving on the NHED Cabinet.

Minimum Qualifications:

    • Master's degree from an accredited institution.
    • Minimum three years of significant administrative experience preferably at a higher education or K-12 organization.
    • Successful college/university teaching experience.
    • Proven visionary leadership in a complex organizational structure, preferably within an educational setting.
    • Experience in strategic planning, resource management and the development of institutional funding priorities.
    • Highly effective communication skills, both oral and written.
    • Commitment to diversity as well as a demonstrated ability to work successfully with persons of diverse backgrounds including sensitivity to their needs and concerns.
    • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, evolving environment and to lead, prioritize, manage, and implement change.
    • Knowledge of technology and how it impacts teaching and learning.

Preferred Qualifications:

    • Doctorate Degree.
    • Successful experience with administering employment or collective bargaining agreements.
    • Knowledge of trends and issues in higher education with an understanding and commitment to the teaching, research, and service missions of the College.
    • Proven record of academic and executive leadership within a shared governance, collective bargaining unit, partnership and collaborative decision making atmosphere.

Salary Range: $ 75,268 – 120,433. Placement on salary schedule commensurate with education and experience.
