Job Title:       Information Technology Instructor

Reports To:   Academic Chair

Status:         Full-time/ Regular/ Exempt

Salary:           $43,183- $50,000 annual (DOE) (Ten-month contract with summer teaching options)

SUMMARY: The Instructor will teach courses on Information Technology in tribal community college setting. The instructor will develop the curriculum needed for an Associate of Science in Information Technology for transfer. A variety of delivery systems such as cooperative learning, self-paced, independent or individualized instruction, in addition to traditional classroom teaching methods may be used. Teaching assignments may include evening classes, hybrid and online format as well as responsibility for site supervision of student projects and/or internships. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Instructs students in a classroom setting in an assigned area of responsibility, ensuring applicable core competencies are addressed; develops course syllabus; plans, teaches, observes; grade assignments completed by students; and evaluates overall student performance;
  • Participates in the development of applicable instructional materials, exams, workshops, tutorials, presentations, support items, special programs, and/or other related items;
  • Conduct research into new and/or revised pedagogies and educational philosophies, and maintain currency in the discipline;
  • Facilitates study sessions and workshops with students;
  • Participate in meetings, committees, and in other college activities;
  • May assist in the preparation of schedules and course offerings;
  • Develop, implement and integrate Tohono O’odham culture in the curriculum;
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

 TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Information Technology or related field or masters in any teaching field with 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching field or masters in any teaching field with 24 upper division and/or graduate semester hours in the teaching field;
  • This position requires a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Windows Command Line, Linux, Data Communications, Networking, PC Troubleshooting and Configuration, PC Hardware. Familiarity with the following, Cisco routers and switches, Windows Server;
  • Experience with multimedia presentation and online course development and teaching;
  • Three to five years of instructional experience in an academic environment.

Additional Consideration May Be Given To Individuals with the Following Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in the teaching field.
  • Ability to speak and understand O’odham and/or Spanish.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the historical and contemporary issues facing Native peoples.

 LICENSING REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid Arizona Driver’s license with no DUI's or major traffic offences within the past two years.
  • Must successfully pass a background check and finger print clearance.
  • Licenses may be required depending on area of assignment.

  • Principles in assigned academic area;
  • Advising processes and practices.

  • Grant writing;
  • Conducting research;
  • Evaluating student performance;
  • Instructing students;
  • Creating collateral materials for class sessions;
  • Advising students;
  • Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with subordinates, coworkers, supervisor, and the general public.

 WORK ENVIRONMENT:

TOCC is a tribal college located on the Tohono O’odham Nation, 60 miles west of Tucson. The incumbent will work closely with members of the Tohono O’odham Nation within a multi-culture setting.
