TCJ Seeks Full-Time Magazine Editor
Tribal College Journal (TCJ) is seeking a full-time onsite editor for our national quarterly magazine based in Mancos, Colorado (near Durango). The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with several years’ experience writing and editing for magazines or newspapers (or a combination of experience and education). Experience with American Indian contemporary issues is important. Experience and interest in digital publishing desired.
Candidates should have first-rate writing and editing skills and proven abilities to organize, inspire, and deliver. Must be a team player and willing to relocate to beautiful southwest Colorado, where the mountains meet the desert.
After 20 years, the Tribal College Journal is one of the most respected publications in the Native American education field. Published by the American Indian Higher Education Consortium, TCJ covers the 37 tribal colleges in the United States and Canada and issues of concern to Indian higher education. Responsibilities include:
-- conceive, develop, and assign great story ideas
-- edit articles for compelling copy
-- obtain outstanding photographs and graphics
-- collaborate with the layout designer
-- help plan and implement the future vision of TCJ as we move into digital journalism
-- participate in other magazine and office responsibilities
